Summer down under - Life's a beach

This post is a little late in coming as summer is already over. Yes, autumn has crept in on 1 March. We had the coolest and wettest summer in 6 years, lots of rainfall and an average maximum temperature of only 25 degree.

Sydney is a paradise for beach-lovers, most of the beaches are packed during summer time. I have read somewhere that there are about 37 ocean beaches within 30 minutes drive from the metropolitan city! Beach boys, bikini girls, sun bathing, surfing, white sand, cool sea breeze, clear blue water... well, let the pictures roll in and do the talking.

No, this is not the famous Bondi beach. This is Coogee beach, the second most popular beach in the Eastern suburbs and the backpackers' favourite.

Ever wondered why the summer school holiday is longer? Yes, Aussies adore the great outdoor and people love going to the beach for a swim and soaking under the sun. We tend to get more leave requests at work during summer as well.

These pictures were taken in early summer when it was still kinda cold, so the beach was not as crowded.

We had lunch at a bistro overlooking Coogee beach with panaromic ocean view. B ordered grilled lamb shanks and salad.

I had chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and mashed potato. Prices there are pretty reasonable.

Life's a beach down under, don't you think?
